Samples

Below are some documentation samples I’ve created since starting the site.

Owner’s manual. Created in Gravit Designer (learned on spot); in PDF format; photos taken with iPhone. This was my first time using Gravit Designer, and I figured out how to use the features I needed to produce this file in one evening. The manual’s on the stationary bike I just got and my assembly of it. New Exercise Bike

Slide presentation. Created in PowerPoint. I documented the creation of this website and identified key future deliverables. Building the Site

System requirements. Created in Excel; in PDF format. About every other morning, I have a smoothie for breakfast; these are the system (term used loosely here) requirements. The subject’s not meant to be taken too seriously, but my goal was to show an understanding of the breadth of technical writing needs and to demonstrate that I can format text in a logical, straightforward way. Requirements for a Smoothie

Report. Created in Infogram (learned on spot); logo created in Vectr; chart created in Excel; in PDF format. Future Islands is one of my favorite bands; this a brief report on their third album. This includes an Excel chart, with the track times displayed in mm:ss and the y-axis in 30-second intervals; with the default settings, the times were listed as hh:mm:ss, and the axis was initially in 43.2-second intervals, so I made the necessary changes for a more intuitive reading (first, I changed the true minutes and seconds to dummy hh:mm terms to remove the initial “00” throughout; then, I figured out [or maybe Googled] the number of minutes in a day [1,440]; last, I determined what number to change the default major unit on the y-axis scale to [from .05 to .0208333…] for the intended result). On the Water

Slide presentation. Created in PowerPoint. I gave myself a haircut the other day and present here the main components of the process. This is the second PowerPoint presentation I created for the site, and I utilized more of the application’s features (e.g., entrance and exit animation effects, gifs, charts created in Excel and modified in PowerPoint, a motion path for an image). I also included footnotes for slides to clarify particular issues. My goal was to make the content engaging and for it to be rolled out in a consistent manner. Haircut
